Aimed squarely at the growing subcompact SUV segment, the 2017 Qashqai will nevertheless offer a host of features we do not normally expect to see in a vehicle of this segment.
Nissan already offers one of the most comprehensive sport utility vehicle lineups in the industry, but it still isn’t finished expanding its SUV family.
2017 Nissan Qashqai: A Little Taste of Europe
Indeed, Nissan dealers will welcome a new subcompact SUV in the next few months which will feature impressive versatility, plenty of cargo space, all the safety features you could ever want, and a bold and stylish design. We are talking about the all-new 2017 Nissan Qashqai.
Unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last January, the 2017 Nissan Qashqai comes to us straight from Europe, where it has been very popular for many years now. Aimed squarely at the growing subcompact SUV segment, the 2017 Qashqai will nevertheless offer a host of features we do not normally expect to see in a vehicle of this segment.
All the Features you Could Ever Want are in the 2017 Nissan Qashqai
Examples include a full lineup of active safety and driver assistance technologies that include forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, intelligent cruise control, and rear cross-traffic alert.
The new Qashqai will slot between the Nissan Rogue and the Nissan Juke, but its overall footprint is more reminiscent of a compact SUV than a subcompact model. That means that owners will benefit from more interior space than what we tend to find in the Qashqai’s competition, and a cargo area that features up to 1,730 liters of cargo space when you lower the rear seats, and 648 liters if you keep the rear seats up.
Three versions of the 2017 Nissan Qashqai will be available at launch, and buyers will have 10 colors to choose from. Bluetooth, a rearview camera, and text message assistance will be standard, while dual-zone climate controls, keyless entry with push-buttons start, a navigation system with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, SiriusXM satellite radio, a 360-degree camera, 17-inch or 19-inch wheels, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel are all offered on the various versions of the 2017 Nissan Qashqai.
Under the hood, Nissan’s new subcompact SUV gets a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine that delivers 141 horsepower and 147 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is paired with either a six-speed manual transmission, or a continuously variable automatic transmission. Fuel economy numbers haven’t been unveiled yet, but there’s no question they will be more than competitive, perhaps even segment-leading.
